In accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 9, 2020 No. PP-4740 "On measures to organize the activities of the University of Geological Sciences in the system of the State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources," the state institution "Institute of Mineral Resources" was reorganized within the University of Geological Sciences and continues its activities within the University.
The State Institution "Institute of Mineral Resources" is one of the main scientific and methodological centers of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan and is a leader in applied geology in the country.
The subject of the activities of the State Institution "MRI" is the development of scientifically based recommendations for increasing the efficiency of geological exploration, as well as conducting laboratory and experimental-technological research aimed at developing optimal schemes for processing mineral raw materials.
The purpose of the Institute is to conduct a complex of laboratory and technological research on the development of scientifically based recommendations to improve the efficiency of geological study of mineral resources, the allocation of promising areas for mineral resources, and the development of optimal regulations for the enrichment (processing) of minerals.
The institute has 4 centers, 17 scientific departments, 11 laboratories, and 1 editorial publishing and printing services group.
Scientific potential of the Institute:
Currently, 116 researchers work at the institute, including 5 Doctors of Science (DSc) and 26 Doctors of Philosophy (PhD).
Of the employees with academic degrees, 2 have the title of professor and 11 have the title of senior researcher, and the h index of 2 employees is higher than 6.
The State Institution "MRI" is the first research institution in the Republic of Uzbekistan certified in accordance with international standards. In addition, the company is the first in the field certified by TÜV.
More than 100 thousand companies from more than 90 countries of the world have TÜV certified management systems for compliance with international standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and others.
In 2013, the State Institution "Institute of Mineral Resources" established its quality management system.
In 2013, the State Institution "Institute of Mineral Resources" began developing its quality management system based on the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2008. In July 2015, the institute received a certificate from the TÜV certification body (Germany) meeting the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 "Quality management systems - Requirement." In 2017, the institute's employees successfully passed a second control inspection, which positively assessed the enterprise's organizational work. In May 2018, the institute received a certificate from the TÜV (Germany) certification body that meets the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 "Quality management systems - Requirement."

Mobile field work teams
The institute has 14 field detachments. All detachments are equipped with modern instruments and equipment (GPS-navigators, digital cameras, mobile communication, tablets, etc.). Field detachments are provided with new off-road vehicles. Field bases have been created for field detachments.
Main directions of research:
- comprehensive regional study of mineral resources and preparation of modern multi-purpose geological and prospecting-metallogenic maps, including the use of modern methods and technologies of remote sensing of the Earth and GIS technologies;
- assessment of the potential of promising areas for the discovery of solid mineral deposits using modern analytical equipment and software and identification of new areas, study of the mineralogical composition of ores of mineral deposits;
- analysis of the dynamics of the country's development and monitoring of the mineral resource base;
- development and implementation in production of modern technologies for the integrated processing of mineral raw materials and the extraction of precious metals (gold, uranium, tungsten, rare and rare-earth elements, manganese, iron, shale, etc.);
- publishing activity (geological journal, monographs, books), training of highly qualified personnel (basic doctoral studies, advanced training of personnel).
Activities of the Scientific Council for the Awarding of Academic Degrees
In accordance with the order of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 344 dated December 30, 2019, a Scientific Council DSc.24/30.12.2019.GM.40.01 for the award of academic degrees was established under the State Institution "Institute of Mineral Resources." 04.00.02 - "Geology of solid mineral deposits, their exploration and prospecting.
