The delegation led by the Director of the Mineral Resources Institute, M. Isokov, is conducting a study visit from December 8 to 10 to familiarize itself with the operations of China’s copper industry enterprises. Throughout the trip, the delegation is being presented with production technologies, raw material bases, and enterprise management practices.

9 December — Kunming

In Kunming, the delegation held meetings and practical site visits at several institutions in the fields of copper industry, metallurgy, and geology:

  • China Copper Co., Ltd Exhibition Hall: presentation on the company’s structure and an introduction to its key production areas.Meetings with Yunnan Copper and the
  • China Geological Survey (Xi’an Center): discussion of technical cooperation and potential future collaboration.
  • Southwest Copper’s modern smelting and electrolysis facilities: overview of production processes, technologies, and processing stages.

10 December — Diqing / Shangri-La

The delegation visited the Pulang copper mine — one of China’s largest underground copper deposits — and closely examined its production processes and the copper beneficiation plant. During the visit, detailed information was provided on artificial intelligence applications, robotic underground infrastructure, mining stages, and safety standards.

Throughout the visit, the MRI delegation is studying practical experience, exploring modern technologies, and engaging in open dialogue with specialists. Additional information will be provided by the institute following the conclusion of the trip.
