The integration of science into production is bearing fruit: recently, scientists and specialists of the State Institution "Institute of Mineral Resources" together with the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine received a patent for a technology for producing pure indium.

To create this technology, it was necessary to carry out a lot of laboratory work, which was carried out in cooperation with the Scientific Research Institute of Mineral Resources. The result of the work done was the successful extraction of indium from technological solutions of the zinc plant. After that, the new technology began to be tested already on an industrial scale. Appropriate experiments are currently underway. But the Department of Justice has already issued a patent for this technology.

Indium is a metal that is used in semiconductor manufacturing, electronics, as well as medicine and jewelry. The production of liquid crystal monitors and smartphone screens needs it, it is part of the coating for car headlights. And in space, this metal is used as a sealant for spacecraft. Indium has also proven itself as a part of anticorrosive coatings.
