MINISTRY OF MINING INDUSTRY AND GEOLOGY
UNIVERSITY OF GEOLOGICAL SCIENCES
State institution "Institute of Mineral Resources"

THE MAIN TASKS OF THE DEPARTMENT

- Conducting research on rare and rare earth elements in each region of Uzbekistan, in order to study the conditions for their formation, patterns of distribution, genetic types, geochemical and mineralogical composition of ore bodies.

- Reassessment of the prospects of existing facilities to identify available commercial reserves. At the same time, within the limits of deposits, the allocation of blocks richer in rare metal ores, the development of which can give high profitability, at least for the payback period of capital investments (internal and external investors).

- Geological and economic assessment of the territory of Uzbekistan, in relation to each region, ore district and ore cluster, which will make it possible to make informed decisions on financing prospecting and prospecting and appraisal work for strategic rare metals, the results of which should form the basis for the creation of industrial clusters (mining - processing-metal).

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH CONDUCTED IN THE DEPARTMENT

- Drawing up structural-facies-formational maps of rare-metal objects and areas with the study of petrology and geochemical specialization of their constituent granites and pegmatites.

- Establishment by the method of mineralogical and geochemical testing of ore bodies and zones of their leading ore-mineral complex, schemes of sequences of mineral formation, forms of finding rare-metal minerals, their main components and impurities.

- Development of private and integrated predictive-exploratory geological and geochemical models of rare metal-bearing structures for the mining regions of Uzbekistan.

- Within the boundaries of the Main Tien-Shan rare-metal belt, within Uzbekistan, mapping the positions of objects of rare-metal ores with the designation of their geological and industrial types, morphogenesis and world standard objects.

- Development of a strategy to increase the rare metal potential of Uzbekistan for the period 2023-2030.

RESEARCH RESULTS

- A study program was drawn up and in it a special List of geological and industrial types, promising rare metal objects of Uzbekistan for the operational setting and conduct of geological exploration for the period 2023-2030.

- A Strategy was developed indicating the features of the modern development of the multi-complex rare metal potential of Uzbekistan (period 2023-2030).

- Model of the depths of origin, intrusion and formation of chambers of rare metal-bearing granite and basic magmas in seismic fields of the geological and geophysical section of the earth's crust through the Zirabulak-Ziaetda and South Nurata mountains (Zirabulak, Karatau and Zarkainar granite intrusions).

- In scientific journals and proceedings of scientific and practical conferences of the Republic and CIS countries for the period 2020-2022. published 17 author's works on rare metal topics (scientific review), dedicated to: niobium, tantalum, selenium, tellurium, yttrium, thallium, thorium and especially lithium.

- A separate edition was published in 2022. monograph “Criteria for forecasting rare-metal mineralization in the Republic of Uzbekistan. new strategy for the development of the mineral resource base".

- For the first time in Uzbekistan, from the samples of rare-metal pegmatites of the Sulatsay, Mangit, Arraband deposits presented by us, lithium, niobium and tantalum were technologically obtained in the form of metals.
